Paris shine at home on day of FIBA 3x3 World Tour Marseille 2024

MARSEILLE (France) - Paris battled hard to book their spot in the knockout stages on Day 1 of the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Marseille 2024.

PARIS DEFEND HOME COURT

Home side Paris came out swinging in Pool phase, taking on the juggernauts in Ub Huishan NE. Franck Seguela and Jules Rambaut combined for 13 points to keep their side in the action, heading to OT. It was Rambaut who called game there with a lay as a 14-16 victory over the Serbian Giants proved to be pivotal.

A narrow loss to Wuxi in their next game took them off the top spot, but the initial result was enough for the side to book their Quarter-Final berth.

CLINICAL AMSTERDAM

The Dutch were red-hot in pool play, starting off with a 21 - 11 win over a young St. Pauli side. Worthy de Jong was hype worthy again as he put up 13 points in the result, bookending it with a thunderous jam.

They grinded out Raudondvaris next in a 16 - 11 win, de Jong finishing as the leading scorer yet again with 9.

Momentum is on their side heading into their Quarter-Final game tomorrow.

RAUDONDVARIS CLUTCH UP

The Lithuanian side had their work cut out for them after a tough start to pool phase action, a grinded down loss to Amsterdam.

It was their experience that paid dividends in their must-win tie against St. Pauli. Modestas Kumpys grabbed the reins with a 7 point - 6 rebound game. He iced things with clutch free throws in OT to call the action 15-13.

They’ll head into the Quarter-Final with a lot of work to do.

VIENNA GO UNBEATEN

The Austrian side started off against Riffa, a team full of superstar talent. Didn’t matter much though as Toni Blazan and Matthias Linortner combined for 14 to oust the side from Bahrain 15 - 17.

It was another team effort in their game against Podgorica with Nico Kaltenbrunner leading his side in scoring with 8. They came away with a 21-17 win.

Vienna will be feeling confident heading into the knockout phase tomorrow.
