Okinawa - Okinawa Arena

 

Okinawa is the largest of the Okinawa Islands and Ryukyu Islands in the Kyushu region. It is the smallest of the five main islands of Japan, with a little less than 1.4 million inhabitants. With a humid subtropical climate due to the rainforest stretching along the north of the Island, the economy of Okinawa is mostly based on tourism.

    Okinawa Arena

     Capacity: 8'500 

    Okinawa Arena is the largest event hall in Okinawa, accommodating up to 10,000 visitors and the most up-to-date indoor entertainment and sporting arena in Japan. It also serves as a home arena for the Ryukyu Golden Kings, one of the most popular professional basketball teams in Japan.

    Okinawa Arena is on the cutting edge of sports entertainment in Japan, especially with its features focused on fan experience, and it holds the most attendance record in the history of the B.LEAGUE. The brand-new arena features premium equipment that will enhance visitors’ entertainment experience.

    Newly built in February 2021, Okinawa Arena has already started to establish itself as not only the most modern basketball arena but also one of the main go-to event venues for concerts and other indoor sports.

    Okinawa Arena is managed by Okinawa Arena Inc., the venue management and services company located in Okinawa, Japan, and will proudly host group phase games and classifications for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.

    • From Naha Airport, take a highway bus to “Okinawa Minami (South) IC” and walk for 7 minutes 
    • From Naha Bus Terminal, take a bus to “Okinawa-shi Undokoen-mae (Okinawa City Athletic Park)” or “Daigo Gate (Fifth Gate)” and walk for 5-7 minutes

    When is FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023?

    The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 is scheduled to take place between August 25 and September 10, 2023.
    The draw takes place in Manila on April 29, 2023.
