Luka Magic in FIBA basketball

LJUBLJANA (Slovenia) - Right now, Luka Doncic has never been better.

In a breathtaking display of raw talent and determination, Luka Doncic etched his name deeper into NBA lore with a game-winning three-pointer. This shot sent shockwaves through the Western Conference Finals. As the clock ticked down to its final moments in Game 2 against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Doncic's heroic shot from beyond the arc secured a thrilling victory for the Dallas Mavericks.

It underscored his burgeoning legacy as one of the league's most clutch performers. This wasn't just a basket; it was a defining moment. It epitomized the drama and excitement of playoff basketball, leaving fans and analysts alike in awe of Doncic's incredible prowess under pressure.

But if this looks familiar, you're right. It's not the first time he's done that to France's Rudy Gobert.

International basketball hasn't been the same since Luka Doncic took center stage. Let's look back on his FIBA career so far with this new video of his highlights with Slovenia. The numbers in his FIBA profile illustrate how special Ljubljana's most famous has been since he made his national team bow at EuroBasket 2017 as a teenager.

Doncic has dazzled.

At EuroBasket 2017, he made clutch plays with his passes and buckets, and displayed a maturity on the court that left no doubt he was already one of the best, most exciting talents ever to hit the hardwood.

Doncic was so captivating with his step-black three-pointers, his finishes at the rim and his behind the back passes, and so crucial to Slovenia's success that by the end, he was in the All-Star Five.

In the FIBA tournaments that have followed, he has been the superstar of superstars.

At the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Kaunas before the Tokyo Games, he arguably looked like the best ever to play national team basketball. Doncic displayed his elite skill, yet he also raised the level of his teammates' performances.  He averaged 21.3 points, 8.0 rebounds and 11.3 assists. Slovenia steamrolled every opponent, including hosts Lithuania, to reach Tokyo. It was as Doncic showed up at the event with a torch and set it on fire. He was unstoppable.

Wash, rinse and repeat! The same thing happened at the Olympics, where Doncic nearly averaged a triple-double as Slovenia finished fourth. Had France's Nic Batum not pinned Klemen Prepelic's potential go-ahead layup at the death in their Semi-Final, Doncic and Slovenia would have played for the gold medal.

At FIBA EuroBasket 2022, Doncic showed bravado, He made jaws drop in Cologne with his all-round play, and then Berlin, until Poland upset the Slovenians in the Quarter-Finals.

In first FIBA Basketball World Cup appearance last year, in Japan and then the Philippines, Doncic continued to dominate and again made the All-Star Five.

What's next? The FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Piraeus. Slovenia will be there, and every basketball fan on the planet hope Doncic will be there too!
