    Facts about Antwerp:

    - 2nd Belgian city in term of population after Brussels (more than 1 million inhabitants).

    - Antwerp is known as the "Diamond Capital of the World." Between 60 and 80 percent of all the diamonds in the world are cut and traded in Antwerp. While visiting Antwerp, you can learn more about the diamond industry thanks to the DIVA Museum | Antwerp Home of Diamonds. 

    - Twinning city with Rotterdam (Netherlands) and Shanghai (China)

    - Belgium has 3 official languages Dutch (Flemish), French, and German. Antwerp is in the Flemish part of Belgium, where Dutch is the lingua franca.

    What to do in the city of Antwerp? (Other than the Women Olympic Qualifier Tournament😉)

    1. Antwerp Central Station UNESCO World Heritage Site, one of the most beautiful railway stations in the world. Designed by the Belgian architect Louis Delacenserie and built in the late 19th century.

    2. Rubens House. Museum dedicated to the life and work of Peter Paul Rubens, one of the most famous Baroque painters of all time, currently in renovation until 2027. 

    3. Visit the Diamond District à Home of diamond dealers, cutters, and polishers. 

    4. Visit the Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp à Collection of over 15,000 works of art (paintings, sculptures, and drawings) by artists from all over the world.

    5. Walking around the Het Eilandje neighborhood à Formerly a port district that has been transformed to a trendy one. Home of the MAS Museum where you can learn about the history of Antwerp and its culture.

  • Sportpaleis

    Capacity: 23,000

    The Sportpaleis is a multi-purpose indoor arena located in Antwerp, Belgium. It is the largest indoor arena in Belgium and has a capacity of 23,000 spectators. The arena is home to the Antwerp Giants basketball team and is also used for a variety of concerts, exhibitions, and other events throughout the year.

    The Sportpaleis was opened in 1933 and has undergone several renovations over the years. The most recent renovation was completed in 2008 and added a new roof, seating, and sound system. The arena also has a number of supporting facilities, including locker rooms, training rooms, and a canteen.
